成語不宜逐字對譯，有對應英文成語最好，否則宜意譯。呢句最簡單o既譯法：

It is safer to believe it / that it happened.

（相信這事／這事確曾發生會比較保險）

樓上有用到 with / without reason 一譯法。

我猜想「寧可信其有，不可信其無」，其實當中大多無「理由」。何時會用上這句？最常用的情況是鬼神之說。有人見過，更多人沒有見過，但有人有證據／理由堅持鬼神存在嗎？

沒有。

所以其實信其有、信其無都與是否有理由無關。根本的意思是：「不管是否有理由，總是先信了為上。」如果要用上 reason，則肯定應是 without reason / even though we have no proof/reason yet.
