phenolphthalein and universal indicator

Titration is performed in the experiment.

In a titration, phenolphthalein is used as an indicator. This is because a sharp end point is indicated by the sharp colour change of phenolphthalein.

Universal indicator is usually NOT used as an indicator in titration, because it is impossible to determine the end point by observing the gradual colour change of universal indicator.
