I am working in HSBC. I will use HSBC standard to answer this question.
HSBC tends to bound the position's salary as banding. Teller (officer grade) is band 8, which is the lowest banding, while band 1 is the highest. The salary is under 10k.
Teller needs to do daily operations as well as promoting and selling insurance plans to customers. You are to sell certain number of insurance each month, which is called quota. The amount of quota for teller is very few.
If you passed insurance paper 1, 3, and 5, then I would suggest you to apply for insurance specific position. You may stand a chance to get a band 7 position, depending on your working experience. Band 7 has salary around 10k-11k. However, the monthly quota required is much higher than teller.
