1. immigration visa = greencard, that means u are a US residence and can live/stay in US.
2. once u get the immigration visa (greencard), you can live/stay in US whatever u want, but u cannot leave US over 3 yrs; otherwise US CIS will think u are not willing to live in USA.
3. there is no difference between greencard holder and US citizen; the difference is US citizen can vote, greencard holder cannot. If you want to become US citizen, you have to live in US at least 5 yrs and do not leave US over 180 days within this 5 yrs. certainly if you are not going to become US citizen, you are no need to live in US over 5 yrs; but you cannot leave US over 3 yrs, as I mentioned in (2) above.
4. sure, greencard is an ID card to prove you have a right to live/stay/work in US.
