so i recently bought gta 4 from gamestop and the first copy i got on my xbox 360 it said disc is unreadable and it was scratched. so i exchanged it for a new copy and it did the same thing. i was thinking i was gonna get another copy from best buy. does anyone know why this happened? will getiing a copy from best buy help me. or is this a problem with my 360. it never happened with any of my other games?
help plzzz. i love this game.

Sounds like you laser is going out or something, try it with the copy from Best Buy. If it doesn't work it's your console

I'm actually getting kind of the same thing. My xbox keeps freezing or saying that the disk is unreadable. The guy at the shop told me that the GTA disks are ones that they have heaps of problems with as it has to be read so much.
You might want to ask the guys at the shop if it could be your xbox? I'm thinking of doing that.

You love it but you've never played it...
its probably your xbox or the game format you brought did not correspond to your console. it depends on the country you live in to what format you have. and online stores sell certain formats. eg. PAL etc.
call a reasonable store that stocks 360's. ask if this has happened before with other people and check you format.
or call xbox customer service if its in warranty.

try other game right now if it work ya returnm that one and get one from best buy
they could got some defected copies or something

It occured to me too, but not very frequent, like only happened once or twice every 4 or 5 hours. But my problem is more minor that it only freezes during the game. I was able to restart it usually ok. I suspect is the console problem coz the disc is not scratched at all.

when you move the xbox it tends to scratch it... try not to move your xbox when their is a game in their... the huge grinding noise means that your game is getting owned by your xbox... microsoft does not cover this.
