ABS resin is equal to Polyester?

ABS resin and polyester are not the same.

ABS is the short name of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene. It is a copolymer with monomers 15-35% acrylonitrile, 5-30% 1,3-butadiene and 40-60% styrene.

ABS is a common thermoplastic used to make light, rigid, molded products such as piping, musical instruments (most notably recorders and plastic clarinets), golf club heads (used for its good shock absorbance), automotive body parts, wheel covers, enclosures, protective head gear, vballs [reusable paintballs], and toys including LEGO bricks.

Polyester is a category of polymers which contain the ester functional group in their main chain.

Although there are many forms of polyesters, the term "polyester" is most commonly used to refer to polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which is known as Dacron or Terylene, and is made from the monomers benzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid and ethane-1,3-diol.

Dacron has high tensile strength, high resistence to stretching and low absorption of moisture. Garments made of Dacron are tough, can resist wrinkling and can be washed and dried easily and quickly. It is excellent for making trousers and skirts, shirts, sheets and sails. Besides, it can be used alone or blended with cotton to make it absorb sweat better.
