1) Why are HK people so busy?
Hong Kong is an international city with fast pace. Starting from the morning many people have to spend a lot of time traveling to get to work or to school, especially for those living in the new town in New Territories .
After they arrive their working place they have to work very fast to cope with the demanding commercial and industrial business environment. We do not have much natural resources except our well trained business mind, hence we have to work harder than a lot of people living in other countries in order to survive. In recent years this situation is getting worse because the employers tends to reduce manpower so one person may have to handle more work than they were in the good times.
For students our children are also under great pressure for entering good schools so that they have more chances for further study. Even though the government has set up more universities and opportunities for students who are not qualified for further studies, students still have to fight to exceed their peers because the study programs offered by the government are not actually successful.
2)How much tome do adults spend time with pld person on holidays/weekday?
In my opinion not so much will they spend time with their parents or grand parents. Firstly they are already exhausted with the whole week fast pace work and need to relax a little during the weekend. Also they are still a lot of people working 6 days a week. During the weekend they may choose to spend the time with their kids because this is something they cannot afford in the weekdays. On holidays they may choose to travel with their own small families to relax. This is also a result of the weakening family relationship while the family patterns in Hong Kong is transforming from big families to small families.

The scattered living areas in Hong Kong also limit their leisure time because they have to spend a lot of time on the road. The intensive study pattern in Hong Kong also pushes the parents to concentrate more on their children’s study instead of their feeling.
