i) there is no need to use art work before an artist, because it is understood that the work produced by an artist is artistic.

ii) you may use pronouns (e.g. them) to refer to the same object / the same kind of objects. this is to avoid lengthy sentences and repeated meanings.

iii) [maybe] is a conjunction, and [may be] is a verb. with reference to your sentence structure, you need a verb rather than a conjunction (you use a conjunction before a clause).
