How do you work this out, do u change the denominator? can someone show me in stages how to get the answer

(1 2/3)(2 3/5)
= (5/3)(13/5)
= (5 x 13)/(3 x 5)
= 65/15
= 13/3
= 4 1/3

1 2/3 and 2 3/5 --> mixed fractions
convert mixed fraction (a b/c) to improper fraction;
by multiplying the denominator; c with a, and the answer add to b; / by the denominator c; therefore the for mixed fraction a b/c the improper fraction is ((cxa)+b)/c

now 1 2/3 = 5/3
and 2 3/5 = 13/5

therefore 1 2/3 x 2 3/5 = 5/3 x 13/5 = (5x13)/(5x3) = 65/15 = 13/3 = 4 1/3

multiplication of fractions a/b x c/d = [axc] / [bxd]

Hey,

First of all,
You need to change the mixed fractions (I'm assuming that's what they are?) into top heavy fractions

5/3 x 13/5

Then you just multiply the numerators together and multiply the denominators together:

65/15 = 13/3 = 4 1/3

1 2/3 = 5/3, denominator x whole number + numerator
2 3/5 = 13/5
therefore new equation is 5/3 x 13/5,
then multiply numerator to numerator and denominator to denominator = 65/15 which is = to 4 5/15, reduce to lowest denominator and final answer 4 1/3.

1 2/3 = 3/3 + 2/3 = 5/3

2 3/5 = 2*5/5 + 3/5 = 10/5 + 3/5 = 13/5

When you multiply fractions you multiply the numerators and denominators

(5*13)/(3 * 5)

cancel the 5 in the numerator and denominator and you have the result

13/3

You don't change the denominator.

1 and 2/3 = 5/3
2 and 3/5 = 13/5

5/3 * 13/5 = 65/15 = 13/3 = 4 and 1/3
