When atoms are joined together by covalent bond(s), the unbonded electron pair (in the outermost shell) on a bonding atom is called a lone pair of electrons, and a single electron (in the outermost shell) on a bonding atom is called an unpaired electron.

It can be referred to as 'unpaired electron'. The ion with one electron is called 'radical'.
