On 7th February 2006 eight TTC workers were working in the tunnels of Eglington and Lawrence Station. These workers were using a petrol-powered generator and power-washers to clean debris. After 75 minutes of work the foreman called TTC Control and reported that the workers were poisoned by gas. Rescue workers spent 84 minutes to rescue the workers.
In the Court TTC admitted that it did not utilise proper machineries to remove poisonous carbon monoxide gas. The Court ordered a punitive damage of $165,000 towards a fund directed at the victims' family. The total amount of fine was $206,250.
