第 一 型 基 本 設 計 為 Ｈ 型 ， 第 一 批 皆 為 六 層 ， 及 後 一 律 加 至 七 層 ， 天 台 則 設 立 學 校 。 而 部 份 第 一 型 樓 宇 會 因 應 地 勢 而 呈 Ｉ 字 型 設 計 。 第 一 型 大 廈 單 位 內 沒 水 沒 電 ， 只 在 兩 翼 中 間 設 有 公 共 水 龍 頭 、 廁 所 及 淋 浴 間 。 部 份 第 一 型 樓 宇 在 七 零 年 代 後 期 改 裝 成 改 裝 第 一 型 徙 置 大 廈 ， 除 了 清 拆 了 兩 翼 中 間 的 樓 層 外 ， 還 將 前 後 相 連 單 位 打 通 ， 增 設 廁 所 及 淋 浴 間 。
第 二 型 徙 置 大 廈 最 早 出 現 在 東 頭 邨 ， 樓 高 七 至 八 層 ， 設 計 和 第 一 型 相 若 ， 最 主 要 分 別 每 層 兩 端 都 建 有 四 個 面 積 較 大 的 單 位 ， 而 且 建 有 獨 立 的 自 來 水 、 廁 所 及 淋 浴 間 ， 這 些 單 位 主 要 是 用 來 安 置 持 有 地 契 的 原 居 民 。 而 大 廈 兩 端 加 建 了 樓 梯 ， 使 整 幢 第 二 型 樓 宇 呈 日 字 型 設 計 。
第 三 型 徙 置 大 廈 樓 高 八 層 ， 外 觀 上 是 Ｌ 型 或 Ｉ 型 。 和 第 一 二 型 最 大 分 別 為 第 三 型 徙 置 大 廈 開 始 設 有 中 央 走 廊 ， 而 每 個 單 位 皆 有 私 家 騎 樓 ， 不 過 早 期 住 戶 是 沒 有 自 來 水 供 應 的 ， 到 後 期 入 伙 的 住 戶 大 都 有 獨 立 的 水 龍 頭 。
第 四 型 徙 置 大 廈 樓 高 八 層 或 十 六 層 ， 基 本 上 第 四 型 徙 置 大 廈 和 第 三 型 設 計 大 致 相 同 。 第 四 型 徙 置 大 廈 外 型 為 Ｔ 字 型 ， 而 且 更 是 首 批 設 有 獨 立 廁 所 及 淋 浴 間 的 徙 置 大 廈 。 第 五 型 徙 置 大 廈 也 是 和 第 四 型 差 不 多 設 計 ， 外 觀 上 也 是 Ｔ 型 ， 不 過 Ｔ 字 中 伸 出 來 的 中 間 部 份 明 顯 比 起 第 四 型 為 短 。

第 六 型 徙 置 大 廈 自 七 零 年 開 始 興 建 ， 樓 高 八 層 或 十 六 層 ， 整 幢 樓 宇 比 起 第 四 型 及 第 五 型 更 長 ， 而 最 大 單 位 的 面 積 更 有 大 幅 增 加 。
