離職證明通常是員工離職後, 公司發出一封證明予員工, 證明員工受僱資料, 例如於何時入職和離職, 員工姓名, 身份證號碼, 入職日期, 現時職位和現時工資等, 亦有不少公司會寫埋評語。
工作證明同離職證明其實內容相若, 一樣有員工受僱資料, 但分別係未必會有評語, 以及離職日期; 很多時候, 在職員工需要申請一些事項, 對方要求在職的證明(例如向房署申請公屋), 可要求公司寫工作證明, 又稱在職證明。

Mr/Miss/Ms (Surname of the staff) resigned from our company of his/her own accord and we hope he/she will have successful prospect in the future.
