What do a dialysis machine actually filter out of the blood?

Conventional dialysis is not useful in filtering out bad cholesterol. But a similar procedure known as LDL apheresis is useful in removing LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) from the blood.

Dialysis filters out urea and other bi-products that our system rids itself of after using the main source from them. Dialysis is not a way to treat bad cholesterol, and I have never seen any articles or evidence that it is "helpful" in lowering it. Dialysis is a last resort for individuals in renal failure, individuals who's kidneys are not working properly or shutting down.
