Topic:Falling of a parachute from Height (Chemistry Laboratory on the 5th floor)
Objectives:To develop students’ creativity, problem-solving skills, collaboration skills and communication skills through the making and testing the features of a parachute after dropping it from height.
Rules and Regulations:
1.All students must work in groups. The whole class must be divided into 10 groups. Each group should consist of 3 to 4 members.
2.There will be a competition among all S.1 students on 16 May 2008. The competition will take place at the open playground from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
3.The maximum mark for this project is 13 marks. The marks will be counted into the Yearly Marks. 5 marks will be given to the protective ability of the case. 5 marks will be given to the written report. 3 marks will be given to the peer evaluation.
4.Zero mark will be given to any group, which fails to attend the competition.
5.Each group has to design a parachute to make a water bottle to fall in a long time after dropping from the chemistry laboratory. The position will be judged by the time for the parachute to land on the open ground.
