1) What is meant by "expensive"? Generally speaking, a school uniform costs about a hundred or so, in which a student puts it on almost everyday. How much does a branded T-shirt cost? At least a few hundreds. How often will one put on that branded T-shirt? Once a week? Once a fortnight? Once a month? Or once a year? Without a precise calculation, we can confidently conclude that the average cost of a school uniform is far lower than a branded T-shirt - is a uniform really costly?
2) Pupils put on their uniforms to school almost daily. They stay at their shool campuses for about a third of a day. Does a uniform wear away after a year? No. It retains its shape and cutting. Could a piece of low-quality clothes achieve this? Doubtless, the answer is negative.
3) Perhaps dressing helps us show our characters, however, in oreder to express his individuality, one does not depend solely on attire. There are many other ways for us to present our personalities. For instance, different tones of speech, gestures, facial expressions etc. are something a person uses subconciously, which together help building his nature. We do not necessarily need clothing to express our personalities at all.
4)Instead of self-conciousness, uniform helps students to build up a sense of belonging. Uniform comes from the word "unity", which as its literal meaing, refers to togertherness. If one is proud of his school and feels that he belongs to the school, obviously there are no reasons for him to feel uncomfortable with the uniform he wearing.
