Non-law degree holder to the legal profession: CPE or JD?

I have graduated from CUHK and obtained a bachleor degree in Accountancy with first class honor. I am currently working in a Big 4. But I am eager to enter the legal profession and subsequently being a solicitor/barrister.

I have glanced through most of the Q&A in Yahoo Knowledge from which I get a preliminary concept of the structure of the law programmes. I would like to ask some more specific questions:

1) With respect to admission to PCLL, CPE or JD is more appropriate?

2) I realized that CPE(organized by HKU SPACE) is not a recognized degree. It's just help me to fulfill most of the requirements for PCLL. In this regard, is a JD more recognizable?

3) Only CUHK and CityU provide JD in HK. The JD in CUHK is a new programme. What criteria I should look for to evaluate the pros and cons of each one?

My plan is to apply for the full time mode of JD in CUHK. It's a 2 - year programme. In view of the fact that I also need to spend 2 years for CPE(part-time mode), I rather spend the 2 years on a JD programme.

I will be grateful if anyone can give some comments.

If you wish to become lawyer, my suggestion is to obtain a lwa degree, i.e. LLB or JD instead of completing a CPE programme. If you can quit your present job and study in full time mode, I would suggest you applying the full time law degree programme.

You may know, LLB is a English type while JD is an Amercian type. Obviously LLB is more popular in Hong Kong.

Other than JD in CUHK, would you also consider studying the distance learning LLB of London University, I know that many colleges, e.g. Lingnan and HKU space, have offered the preparatory course. If you have held a first degree, you can obtain the LLB degree within 2 years. The route is that: (1) first year: 4 subjects and (2) second year: 5 subjects.
