Maybe it was being taken over by other shows. Now there is Boomerang.

The Flinstones was a older show and I think Cartoon Network wanted to adapt to the new times and change by canceling the old shows and adding newer series that they thought the general child public would enjoy watching. And also I bet Cartoon Network wanted to keep up with their rivals (Nick and Disney Channel) since those two channels were also changing and bringing in more viewers each passing day.

Preferably, I enjoyed the Flinstones more then seeing the crack in all the newer Cartoon Network shows (like Ed, Edd, and Eddy), but they did not ask my opinion. But I must give Cartoon Network credit for adding some newer Japanese animes, such a Naruto to their channels, which brings many viewers every Saturday night.

Cartoon Network also added Adult Swim which I think was kinda like a sell-out type of move, because Cartoon Network was for the kids, but that also brought them alot of extra money to earn. I think most of the Adult Swim is very perverted, but that channel has also brought some really great anime also and most of that channels anime is one of my favorites.

So when it gets down to it all, it is all about the viewers and money and that is probably why they ended the Flinstones, but the good news is you can still watch it on Boomerang (which is also hosted by Cartoon Network).
