Cannon A40 camera working with Window Vista?

I switched to Window Vista last month. But I couldnt get it to work with my Cannon A40 digital camera (bought quite some years ago).

The CD-ROM driver of the camera only worked under Window 98 or earlier versions.

Is there anyway to get solve the problem apart from buying a new camera? I tried Cannon enquiry but they have yet to reply to me.

Just use a compact flash card reader instead of trying to read directly from the camera. They're very inexpensive these days, and much much faster than downloading from your camera. By the way, still got my old A40 and still love it (and I use a card reader too). Here's a large selection. Make sure to read the reviews before deciding on one:
