can you sub lard for vegetable oil?

i'm making cookies and the recipe calls for vegetable oil but i dont have any and my friend says to use lard

Using lard is fine but if you want to go for an healthier option, why not try margarine instead.

You'll get a savory taste in your cookies. If youhave vegetable shortening, that would be better.
