number of device for mac to been mounted limitary?

1) it seems even Apple never mention abt this. as i guest, u could mount as many as the possible, just we known that all macs does not offer many of USB/Firewire port.

2) as above, i dont think there s too much differences
except too many external device may turn down the performances, i think that OS9 would worser than OSX.
