I lived in San Francisco, so I am guessing the process should be similar.
Just wait for the letter, it will say what to do on there. Either:
1. just pay the amount on the letter and go to traffic school, so car insurance would not increase. (Assuming you do not have any other citation within the last 1.5 years)
2. go to court, the judge will ask if you agree or disagree the fact that you drive too fast. If you do, Judge will lower the amount you need to pay. Then you will have the option of going to traffic school or not.
Everyone will tell you go to traffic school, because you don't want it in your record.
