including fractions whilst the two denominators is the comparable is straightforward: merely upload the numerators. Numerator = area on staggering. a/ok + b/ok = (a+b) / ok on your problem: 3/20 + 6/20 = (3+6) / 20 To simplify, you seem for a ordinary element between the numerator of the respond and its denominator (the backside area). working example, in case you have a fragment like 60/420, you will discover that 10 is a ordinary element (they the two end with a 0); to simplify, you may divide the two by using 10 60/420 = 6/40 two Now, you may observe that they share 2 as a ordinary element (they are the two even), so which you divide by using 2 6/40 two = 3/21 Now, we see that 3 is a ordinary element 3/31 = a million/7 it rather is the simplified version. those form of fractions have the comparable fee; the single with the smallest numbers is the main elementary version: 60/420 = 6/40 two = 3/21 = a million/7

The LCM of 33y and 9y is 99y:

14/33y x (3/3) + 14/9y x (11/11)

= 42/99y + 154/99y

= 196/99y.

give them both the same denominator (99) then combine. 14/33 becomes 42/99 and 14/9 becomes 154/99. since they both have 1 "y" term they can be added.

final answer-- 196/99y which does not reduce.
