Arguments
Grounds of arguments
Demonstration
A good dissertation should have the following points :
1. Point(s) of arguments
2. Grounds of arguments
3. Demonstration of arguments
4. Re-stress point(s) of arguments
With the example you cited as an example – Is it better to dine in than to dine out ?
1. You have to establish your point of argument. Since the topic is quite simple so you do not need to state too many point. Just one simple yet forceful sentence stating out your point of argument is enough. This is to let the reader understand your point of view clearly, before they even look at your essay.
2. Grounds of arguments – Here you need to elaborate more on your argument point. In this topic your grounds should be all the debating arguments you can list out as a background to support your point of view.
3. Demonstration of arguments – This is a follow up explanation of your grounds of arguments. But here you need more examples as demonstration instead of simply illustrating your grounds.
4. At the end, think of another way to present your point of argument. It does not necessarily be another way. It can only be another saying, so people are fully impressed with your standpoint. In a story we call it a punch line. That is, the last message you want to send to your reader.
