4x/3 = 15
multiply both sides with 3
4x/3 * 3 = 15 * 3
4x = 45
divide both sides by 4
4x / 4 = 45 / 4
x = 11.25

You have to get rid of the fraction. So remove the 3 from the denominator. Now, in removing the 3, you have effectively mulitplied the whole fraction 4x/3 by 3, so you must do the same thing to the other side, so multiply 15 by 3, giving 45.

so you have 4x = 45

x = 45/4 or 11 1/4
