First of all, congrats on the quitting smoking.. and the tanning isn't quite as bad for you, but congrats on that too!
Sounds like you are already doing great things for your skin.
The sweating rids your body of toxins and is supposed to help your skin glow. We all know the benefits that drinking water has for your skin.

My skin gets very dry with mostly all facial cleansers, so I understand your problem.

The good news is that a regimen with certain products should make your skin look great.

First of all, re-think the soap. I found a miracle product that works for me, perhaps it will work for you too. Aveeno clear complexion cream cleanser does not dry out my skin and drives away acne. Exfoliation is important to get rid of dulling dead skin cells, so use a wash cloth to apply the face wash and very gently rub.

Toner. You can find tons of products on the market that claim to reduce your pore size. I used to use clean and clear but I'm trying out a natural astringent now called witch hazel. It is supposed to do the same thing but i was hoping for a less drying effect.

As for moisturizer, I have read that anything containing soy will help to brighten and smooth out your complexion. Make sure to read the label and make sure that it won't clog your pores. Look for the word non-comedogenic.

finally, look into getting facials every once in a while. They will do wonders for your skin.
By using these products with a daily regimen, you should see improvement in the pores and glow of your skin.

Hope this helped!

Tanning is a big no no when it comes to maintaining your skin. It does create enlarged pores, speeds of the aging process and causes hyperpigmentation (dark spots). Smoking doesn't help either, it inhibits the body from absorbing Vitamin C so try taking a supplement daily. I would recommend Emergen-C packets you can find them anywhere.

In terms of a skin care regimen, definitely doing a three step am and pm will help A LOT! First, stop using bar soap! Bar soap has an extremely high PH level and strips your skin, initially it will make it feel dry but then your skin will begin to over-compensate for that loss of moisture by producing even more oil.

Second, definitely use a toner. It will help balance your PH back out after cleansing (water alone has a high PH because of it's purification process). Just be sure that it doesn't contain alcohol.

Third, use a sunblock in the morning and a light moisturizer at night. Check to see that they are oil-free and non-comodogenic.

And last, use a light scrub once a week. This will help remove all your dead surface skin and take care of that dullness that you're experiencing.

I'm assuming your a man & there's a lot of great skin care lines out there for men. One of my favorites is called Anthony. I've been an Esthetician (skin care specialist) for seven years and when I purchase products for my fello I inspect all ingredients & this line I've found to contain some of the best. By the way, he has the same issues as yourself.

Hope I helped!

You have to be careful with oily skin, because if you overwash your face the oil glands in your skin can get irritated and start producing more oil. Wash your face once a day with a cleanser specially formulated for people with oily skin (I recommend L'oreal Nutri-Pure). Then wash your face for a second time (within 24 hours) using water and witch hazel (an astrigent, comes in a bottle similar to peroxide) Also, try to use makeup that's oil free. Do the same thing in the winter, but try adding a moisturizer to that regimen. Ponds facial cream is the best.

Personally, I think for a starter you should try some home-made facial masks in order to "re-store" all the moisture etc...

Then I'll follow this regime. Wash you face morning and night with warm water. Pat dry the face with towel. Apply suitable moisturizer during the mornings only.

If you're looking for something very cheap as a moisturizer, I would recommend to use Vaseline (the big tubs) and apply before you go to sleep because it's quite greasy.

Occasionally, use sugar mix olive oil to scrub the face since you do sports regularly and sweat, your face will build some dead skin. The scrub allow you to "scrub away" the dead skin.

I wouldn't use toner because I was allergic to the alcohol in the fluid.

Above all, it depends what skin type are you... mine is dry.

Yes you should always use a cleanser, toner, then moisturizer. The toner will not dry you out if you follow up with a good moisturizer. If you are looking pale then TAN. Either sun tan or self tan(they have ones for your face).

if soap dries your face out, then toner definitely will too.
before trying all that, try using a blackhead clearing scrub on your face. it's kinda grimy feeling, and will help exfoliate and remove all dead skin/blackheads/pores. try that first, with a moisturizer.
