"Unagi" or eel is grilled till cooked, not just a little. There's a sauce that the skewered unagi is dipped into before serving.

Yes, the eel ("unagi" in Japanese) is grilled with a sauce that is brushed (not drizzled) on while grilling. The sauce consists of mirin (sweet rice wine), soy sauce, sugar, and other spices.
