If the concentration of my standard is 5mM . in my solution it contain 0.01ml of standard, and 0.04 ml of H2O, so wat will the concentration of my standard be?

Thanks I am really not good at conversions

Method 1 :
Before dilution: M1 = 5mM, V1 = 0.01 mL
After dilution: M2 = ?, V2 = 0.01 + 0.04 = 0.05 mL

M1V1 = M2V2
5 x 0.01 = M2 x 0.05
Hence, concentration after dilution M2 = 1 mM

==========
Method 2 :
No. of moles of solute before dilution = MV = 5 x (0.01/1000) = 0.00005 mmol
No. of moles of solute after dilution = 0.00005 mmol (unchanged)
Volume of the final solution = (0.01 + 0.04) /1000 = 0.00005 L

Molarity of solution after dilution = mol/V = 0.00005/0.00005 = 1 mM
