Is the Anime English Dub Good or Bad?

There are three main reasons why I don't like English dubbed anime.

1. Most of the time, the voice doesn't really match the character.

2. They change the words from the original copy. It's because Japanese words are different from the English words. Sometimes it takes longer to say something in English than in Japanese. Vice versa. In order not to go over the time limit, they change and switch the words.

3. If you compare the English dub version with the original Japanese verision, the English version sounds like it's lacking a lot of emotion. That's another thing that I really don't like.

However, if you are too lazy or if you are too slow of a reader, watching English dubbed versions might work for you. Otherwise I would recommend the subbed versions.

Usually, anime english dub aren't good at all. I don't like how the characters sound. I stick to subbed instead of dubbed. Japanese sounds a whole lot cooler that english anyways. lol

I despise all English dub anime regardless. It seems to me that the Englsih and all the editing ruins the anime itself.

It really depends on the anime. Some dubs, such as One Piece, Naruto, Tokyo Mew Mew, etc butcher the anime completely. (especially in the case of Tokyo Mew Mew) Others, however, like the Scrapped Princess and Inuyasha dub, are done wonderfully. The company can give you a hint on whether it'll be good or not as well. 4Kids usually screws it up, but Funimation does pretty well.

99% of the time, dubs are tragically horrifying. Their censorship of content and dialogue habitually destroy all-time-greats such as One Piece and Naruto. Although, their are some redeeming anime such as Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, where the dub, in my opinion, was much better than the sub (I always watch both.). And I'm sure there are many others out there, but traditionally, dubs are of the poorest quality.
