Infinite solutions.

These are the same line.

In order to solve by elimination, you need to multiply the top equation by 2. When you do, the equations are identical.

1st relative value of y:
4x + 5y = 4
5y = 4 - 4x

2nd relative value of y:
8x + 10y = 8
4x + 5y = 4
5y = 4 - 4x

Answer: seeing from the foregoing relative values of y it appears that the problem has no definite solution.

5y = 4 - 4x

multiply the first equation by 2 to get
8x+10y=8 and since you cant do this so
u must then try the subsituton method
and since that too doesnt work you cant find
x or y.

4x + 5y = 4
2(4x + 5y) = 2(4)
8x + 10y = 8

...8x + 10y = 8
- 8x + 10y = 8
--------------------
0

(the equations are the same)
2008-04-26 5:11 pm
(4x+5y=4)8
(8x+10y=8)4

32x+40y=32
32x+40y=32
THIS SUM CANNOT BE POSSIBLE BY ELIMINATION METHOD BECAUSE ALL WILL BE CANCEL.
IF IT WOULD 4x+5y=4
8x-10y=-8
therefore it would be right

Equations are one and the same.
Cannot solve.
