Let y be the time (hours) they will read the same page counting from 5:00pm.Reading speed of Tom : 30 pages per hour
Reading speed of Jan : 40 pages per hour
At 5:00pm, Tom has read : 30 x 0.5 = 15 (pages)
At 5:00pm, Jan also start to read,
15 + 30 y = 40 y
15 = 10 y
y = 1.5
Ans : They will be reading the same page at 6 : 30pm.
