I think most people know to look at the dates first. Generally no one is trying to fool anyone. Expired dates sometimes just get missed. Unless it's some sleezy backwoods market, it's not likely to be intentional. Anyone buying any food product with a past due date on it, kind of gets what they deserve... for not looking. If it happens, and you have a dated receipt, return it. Any good market would take the return.

I've seen this a lot at Turkey Hill Convenient stores, check the date before you grab milk from there!

I have NEVER seen 'past due' mike in my grocery store. Having said, that, though, I always pull my milk from the back.

I've been in the stores and I've seen milk still being sold on the SELL BY date, but even then, the USE by date is still a few days out. So you are still OK. And if you buy no fat or 1% or 2% milk, it will still be OK because there is no or less fat to clabber (or curdle).

Also, MILK in the front that has been sitting by those lights ahs a lower quantity of vitamin D in it as well as it gets destroyed by the fluorescent lights.

Just check the SELL BY and USE BY dates. that's all.

It is all about the bottom line. They make money by selling you past due milk. They would lose money if they pour it down the drain. They should indeed sell milk that are near the expiration date at a sharply reduced price.

When you find out dated material INFORM the manager..

well they bought it, and they are trying to make a profit, so obviously they are going to try to sell it to you.

I've never had this happen. Buy milk in a store where they sell a lot of it. It's more likely to be fresh.
