Although(though) / but

句式結構

(1)Although(though) – 解作「雖然」，切勿與but同時使用。放在句首時，緊記用逗號把兩句句子連接；放於句中時，則無須加上逗號了。

(1.1)Although(though)…,…
Although she told the truth, nobody believed her.
雖然她說實話，但沒有人相信她。

(1.2)… although(though)…
He didn’t get wet though it was raining.
雖然正在下雨，但他沒有淋濕。

(2) but 但是
…but…
He is clever but lazy.
他很聰明，但很懶惰。

例子：
Thomas is rich but he is sad.

The cakes look good but they are expensive.

Though the sun was shining, he brought on umbrella.

Though it was cold, he wore very little.

Although Mary was sick, she went to school.

He failed the examination although he had studied hard.

though...... yet (雖然......但是)

Though he is poor, yet he is happy.

記著：在 'though' 之後不可以用 'for' ，可以用 'yet'.

But，　"although"一般放在ｓｅｎｔｅｎｃｅ開頭．
e.g. Although I am very tired, I am still trying to answer your question.
e.g. Though you dislike your english teacher, you have no choice.
