Would,Might and Could?

Would, might, could 除了係will,may,can的過去式, 還有其他意思

"Would" is often used in asking for favour.
eg. Would you give the book to me?

or "Would" can be used in expressing your wish.
eg. I would like to watch a movie tonight.
Note: 用Would這字是比較有禮.

Could同Might是比can同may冇咁確實
eg.
A: Can you fix the chair for me?
B: Yes, I can do.
/ em.. I think I could do.

Could 係冇咁sure

another exmpale:
A: Does Tom like eating sushi?
B: em.. he might like. (not quite sure)
B: I think he may like (not too sure, but likely)
B: I think he would like (not sure, but very likely)
B: yes. he will like it! (very sure)

這些字的意思很似, 我也只給了部分的example. 你要多看書, 多問老師才會運用得好.

除了是will.may,can既過去式外，是有其他用法，就如下：

May, might

句式結構
He may/might ＋動詞（基本形）
She may/might＋動詞（基本形）
It may/might＋動詞（基本形）
I may/might＋動詞（基本形）
You may/might＋動詞（基本形）
We may/might＋動詞（基本形）
They may/might＋動詞（基本形）

運用方法
（1）〝May〞和 〝might〞均用於表示事情的可能性：
You may be right.
你可能是對的。

（2）表示許可、准許的意思：
You may put your things here.
你可以把你的東西放在這裏。

（3）用於禮貎的訽問：
May I ask a question?
我可以問一個問題嗎？

Might I see your driving license?
我可以看看你的駕駛執照嗎？

（4）〝Might〞可用於間接引語中，作為〝 may〞的過去式：
She asked if she might go to the party.
她問她可不可以參加派對。


Can, could
句式結構
He can/could＋動詞（基本形）
She can/could＋動詞（基本形）
It can/could＋動詞（基本形）
I can/could＋動詞（基本形）
You can/could＋動詞（基本形）
We can/could ＋動詞（基本形）
They can/could＋動詞（基本形）

運用方法
（1）〝Can〞和〝could〞均用來描述辦得到的事情：
They can drive the car.
他們能夠駕駛那輛汽車。

（2）用來表示許可、准許的意思：
He said he could smoke.
他說他獲准吸煙。

（3）用來表示請求：
Can/could you read aloud?
你可以大聲朗讀出來嗎？

（4）否定形式，表示不可能或不准許：
Can → can’t/cannot
Could → couldn’t

I was sick, I couldn’t go outside.
我生病了，不能外出。

Would/would you mind…?
運用方法
除了用來表示過去時態外，〝Would〞也可用來表示禮貎的請求或訽問。

（a）Would＋動詞（基本形）
Would you hold this book for me for a moment?
你可否替我拿着這本書一會兒？

（b）Would you mind＋動名詞 (verb＋〝-ing〞)
Would you mind speaking louder, please?
你可否說得大聲一點？

would, might & could 的確係 will, may & can 的過去式。
