請拍咭英文係咩呢?

其實你係唔係指「八達通」果種拍咭呀？

如果係，可以好簡單咁講:
Would you please place the card on the card reader?

當攪掂就講埋Thank you.

ok 晒.

Please scan the card.

Please produce your card against the card reader.

produce = 出示
against the card reader = 對著讀咭器

中文叫拍咭, 英文不是用拍打 (pat)之字眼, 用 produce (出示)已明白!

但像拍百達通卡的過程叫甚麼呢？
其實英文同樣叫”swipe”，全句是：swipe the card over the senso plate.

在外資公司門口看到, 提醒員工進出要使用磁卡的告示:
PLEASE USE THE ACCESS CARD /
PLEASE USE THE ACESS CARD TO ENTER
只需提醒人 "用" 磁卡, 人家就知道是把它 "拍" 在感應器上, "拍" 個動作是不用譯出來的. 如果真有需要講解 "拍" 這個動作, 可寫成
PLEASE PASS YOUR ACCESS CARD IN FRONT OF THE READER
但注意, 如果這樣說, 就不是提醒人用磁卡出入, 而是講解磁卡的用法, 是輕觸感應器, 而不是插卡或者其他甚麼的, 有假定人家不知道磁卡用法的含義.

"PAT" YOUR CARD 沒有意義. PAT 是拍打, 例如用手拍打人家的背就是PAT.

CARD 大概不是用來 拍打的.
