Find the least common denominator (LCD):
5, 6, 8, 6, 4 divide by 2 those that are divisible by 2
5, 3, 4, 3, 2 divide by 2 those that are divisible by 2
5, 3, 2, 3, 1 divide by 3 those that are divisible by 3
5, 1, 2, 1, 1

The LCD:
= 2 * 2 * 3 * 5 * 2
= 120

The fractions with denominators changed to LCD:
= - 48/120, 20/120, 105/120, - 100/120, 90/120

Arrange in the ascending order:
= - 100/120, - 48/120, 20/120, 90/120, 105/120

Revert to their least terms (answer):
= - 5/6, - 2/5, 1/6, 3/4, 7/8

- 5/6__- 2/5__1/6__3/4__7/8 is answer

Check
LCD = 240
- 200/240_- 96/240_40/240_180/240_210/240

OR use decimals :-

- 0.83__- 0.4__0.17__0.75__0.875

ascending means from least to greatest, so first you'd have to find a way to compare them. changing them all to decimals is the best way. they become -0.4, 0.16666666, 0.875, -0.83333333, and 0.75

now you can put them all in order:

-0.83333333, -0.4, 0.166666666, 0.75, 0.875
(-5/6, -2/5, 1/6, 3/4, 7/8)

Use a calculator to convert them to decimals

-5/6, -2/5, 1/6, 3/4, 7/8.

-2/5, 1/6, 7/8, -5/6, 3/4 in ascending order
are
-5/6, -2/5, 1/6, 3/4, 7/8

-2/5 , 1/6 , 7/8 , -5/6 , 3/4

-5/6 < -2/5 < 1/6 < 3/4 < 7/8

There are multiple methods of determining which fraction is the smallest. For example, you can simply convert each fraction into a decimal number to help determine how big the fractions are.

Another method that you can do is to find the least common denominator of each fraction. In this case the LCD is 120. Therefore, you can rewrite each fraction, with a denominator of 120.

-2/5 changes to -48/120

1/6 changes to 20/120

7/8 changes to 105/120

-5/6 changes to -100/120

3/4 changes to 90/120

Therefore, your new set of fractions is:

-48/120, 20/120, 105/120, -100/120, 90/120

Now, because each of the fractions has the same denominator, you can very simply just compare the numerators of the fractions to put the fractions in ascending order.

-100< -48 < 20 < 90 < 105

So, the ascending order of your fractions is:

-100/120, -48/120, 20/120, 90/120, 105/120, which when compared to your original set of data is:

-5/6, -2/5, 1/6, 3/4, 7/8.

Hope this helped.
