they are just like another set of parenthesis
it just means do everything inside first and then treat them as normal parenthesis

U do the equation in the brackets 1st

Here's the Full Order
Brackets
Of
Multiply
Division
Addition
Subtraction

So
2(9-6)
2x(3)
6

ok this is how it works

u have to use PEMDAS 4 these types of questions. but 4 brackets and parentheses and braces it is kind of the same. u dot the parentheses first then the brackets then the braces ({ )

so here is how u do it:

2[9-(3x2)] like i said, u hav 2 do parentheses first

2[9-6] once u do the stuff in side the parentheses u get rid of the parentheses

2x3 then, like i said, u do the brackets which happens 2 b 6 bcuz 9-3=6 and 2 numbers 2gether means multiply

6! 2x3=6

p.s. U DO THE PARENTHSES FIRST.......NOT BRACKETS!!!

2 [ 9 - ( 3x2 ) ]
= 2 [ 9 - 6 ]
= 2 [ 3 ]
= 6

When dealing with brackets, you need to work from the inside out. That's what they are there for, to show you what order to work the math out in.

So

2(9-(3x2)) = 2(9-6) = 2x3=6.

We solve this equation by applying the BODMAS rule. First this() bracket ,next[ ] bracket And Last { } bracket

2[9-(3*2)]
=2[9-6]
=2*3
=6

Hope i helped you.....

2 [ 9 - 6 ] = 2 x 3 = 6
2008-04-19 1:52 pm
2[9 - (3 x 2)]
= 2[9 - 6]
= 2[3]
= 2 x 3
= 6

break it up into chunks. this may be confusing at first but hopefully this helps.

ill break it step by step so you can see what i am trying to do

The parentheses are there to guide you what calculations you should do first...you have to calculate the numbers inside the () first

you have 2 sets of parentheses

one being (9- (3x2)) 9 minus the product of (3x2)
the second being (3x2)

when have parentheses inside of parentheses a good rule of thumb is to always calculate the inner most parentheses then work out ward...so in this case we first calculate

(3x2) which'll give you 6

so now the equation 2 ( 9 - (3x2)) will be 2 ( 9 - 6)

now you can work the second set of parentheses which is (9-6) which'll give you 3

so the equation went from

= 2 (9 - (3x2))
= 2(9- (6))
= 2(3)
= 6

just remember [ ] is the same as () they look different so they dont confuse you

try this 5 (10 -(15 - (5x2)))

you have three sets of parentheses, work the inner most first then work outwards...hope this helps

2[9-(3x2)]=2[9-6] (first you simplify the inner most bracket)
=2x3 (remove the brackets and simplify)
=6
Brackets are meant just for simplification
Here we have the apply the BODMAS the explanation is
B- BRACKETS
O- OF
D- DIVISION
M- MULTIPLICATION
A- ADDITION
S- SUBTRACTION

According to the above order we can simplify the above sum easily

Use order of operations. Hence you do everything within the brackets first. So 3x2=6 and 9-6 = 3, so you have:

2[3]=6
