Call ahead of time to make sure you know exactly what amount of money to bring. Nothing's worse than showing up like $5 short of a plan! Also, make sure that they allow walk-ins, and if not, make an appointment.
Depending on your skin tone, you should bring SOME type of sunscreen. I always use baby sunscreen with spf 60 on sensitive areas such as my nose, shoulders, knees, etc. Either buy indoor tanning lotion ahead of time or bring an extra like $30 to buy a bottle at the salon. I use cheap lotions from Ulta, Rite-Aid, Target, etc. and they all work just as well as the expensive stuff they try to sell you. Make sure that you use INDOOR lotion though! Most salons, depending on what state you're in, are required to fine you at least $250 if you use outdoor tanning lotions in indoor beds.
Most women tan naked, so don't worry about bringing any fancy clothes or bathing suits. I usually just wear a thin dress over my normal bra and underwear. It's easy to remove and I won't freak out if I get some lotion on it. Also, make sure that you wear sandals or easily-removable shoes.
Every salon that I've been to has provided goggles, but you never know. This is another thing you might want to ask about on the phone. If they aren't letting you use them for free, they HAVE to, by law, have them for sale. If you do have to pay, it won't cost more than $5 for a pair.
I always bring a little pack of tissues, make-up removing wipes, chapstick with spf (VERY IMPORTANT!! YOUR LIPS WILL BURN!), a towel and my phone.
Don't go in for more than 8 minutes your first time, no matter how dark you are naturally. I went in for 15 my first time and everything was fine immediately after coming out. A few hours later I was RED! You definitely shouldn't put your skin through that...just work your way up!
Hope everything goes well! Have fun with your new tan! :)
Take care!
