Which sentence or other sentences is to describe a person who did not know the car was defective.

He denied having knowledge of the car being defective.

He denied having any knowledge of the defective car.

He denied having knowledge of the car being defective - is to describe a person who did not know the car was defective.
Above sentence shows that he said he has no knowledge of the car being defective.
In fact, a better saying of this sentence can be :
He denied having known that the car was defective.

He denied having any knowledge of the defective car.
This sentence said that he said he has no knowledge of the car. Defective in this sentence is just an adjective of the car. So this is a wrong answer.
