50cm^3 of carbon monoxide burns completely in 50cm^3 of oxygen. Assuming that all volumes are measured at room temperture and pressure, what is the final gaseous volume at the end of the combustion?

molar volume of gas at room temp. and pressure = 24dm^3

Ans: 75cm^3

Explain plsss.. Thank you

According to Avogadro’s law, under constant pressure and pressure, the mole ratio of gaseous is equal to their volume ratio.

2CO(g) + O2(g) → 2CO2(g)
Mole ratio in the reaction CO : O2 = 2 : 1
When 50 cm3 of CO is complete reacted,
no. of moles of O2 needed = 50 x (1/2) = 25 cm3
Hence, volume of unreacted O2 = 5- - 25 = 25 cm3

Mole ratio of CO : CO2 = 2 : 2 = 1 : 1
Volume of CO reacted = 50 cm3
Hence, volume of CO2 formed = 50 cm3

Final volume at the end of the combustion
= Volume of unreacted O2 + volume of CO2 formed
= 25 + 50
= 75 cm3

首先要知化學反應.
2個CO +一個O2= 2個CO2

50個2X+50個X=2個Y

最後=75cm3
