I did response cards and I'm glad I did! For one, its just really nice to get something other than bills in my mailbox! Another nice thing is that I don't have to worry about people calling all hours of the day to RSVP. I work odd hours and I have to worry about my sleep getting interrupted! Finally, its a lot easier to keep track with respose cards than phone calls. Its easy enough to forget a phone call. I know I forget almost everything unless its written down! With the response cards I keep them in a little box so I know who has RSVP'd and who hasn't.

Hope this helped!

well yeah usually Response cards come with every wedding invite, mine did, along with every wedding invitation i've ever gotten, they usually say something like:

The courtesy of a reply is requested by
(date when you need to know by)
M_____________________ (this is where there name would go)
___Accepts ____Regrets

*something to this nature, your invitation printer should be able to help you with this

Yes, I think you should include cards so you can get a rough estimate of how many are attending. However, realize that a percentage of your invites will not respond. So, you should make allowances for that when planning for food, seating, etc...

RSVP cards are standard, and remember to put stamps on the envelopes so your guests do not have to. Standard etiquette.

Response cards are more formal and are easier in my opinion as you can save them and have a record of who is and isn't coming. It is a good idea to have phone numbers of all the people you are sending invites to because some people will not respond and you will need to confirm if they are or are not able to attend. Also something to think about doing to the response cards is to put a small number on the back in a corner of the card and then correspond it to the person you are sending it to incase someone doesn't put their name on the card.

Good luck and congratulations.

wedding invitation assembly?
Okay....here's what I have:

Invitation
RSVP card
RSVP return envelope
directions card
information card (informing its an outdoor event regarding attire for comfort...)

I printed these myself using a store bought kit, it did not come w/inner envelopes or liners...so I'm not using those.
Do I place the rsvp card into its return envelope?
Does all the 'extras' get placed under the invite?
And when placing ALL into the outter mailing envelope, does it face the 'address' side or the 'seal' side?

The items should be facing you when you open the envelope.
The first thing they should see when opening, is the invitation itself, so put that on top, then the RSVP card tucked under the flap of the return envelope **Don't forget to put a stamp on the return envelope to make it easier for people to respond**. Have that facing out so that when you open it and move the invitation, you can see the RSVP card and the flap of the envelope behind it. Then the Other 2 can be interchangeable, but I would do directions, then the information card on the very bottom.

everyone uses return cards. that is the proper way. you shouldn't just put a phone number.

Ohh, Yes if I were you I would do it. This is a very classy way to request the guests to let you know if they plan to assist.

I think this is what most people do and it is kinda expected. You also need to have a self addressed stampled envelope included with the response card, so that way your guests don't have to worry about stamps.
