Show the steps very clearly.

1. A bottle of vinegar with 24g of pure ethanoic acid (CH3COOH) is diluted to 1 dm^3 . What is the volume of 0.1 M sodium hydroxide solution required to neutralize 25 cm^3 of the diluted vinegar solution?

Consider the preparation of the solution:
Molar mass of CH3COOH = 12x2 + 16x2 + 1x4 = 60 g mol-1
No. of mass of CH3COOH = mass/(molar mass) = 24/60 = 0.4 mol
Molarity of CH3COOH = mol/V = 0.4/1 = 0.4 M

Consider the neutalization:
CH3COOH + NaOH → CH3COONa + H2O
Mole ratio CH3COOH : NaOH = 1 : 1
No. of moles of CH3COOH used = MV = 0.4 x (25/1000) = 0.01 mol
No. of moles of NaOH used = 0.01 mol
Volume of NaOH = mol/M = 0.01/0.1 = 0.1 dm3 = 100 cm3

volume of 0.1 M sodium hydroxide solution =
0.1/ ( 24/(12+3+12+16+16+1) ) / (1/0.025)
