Wars, especially major wars on par with WWI and WWII are major boosts to the economy. Because of all of the programs that FDR put in, he extended the Great Depression until after the time we got involved in WWII after Pearl Harbor. What is making our economy so bad currently is the fact that we have used up most of the credit that we can get as individuals, corporations, and as a Nation.

Well the one were in now is bankrupting the country so another one would really do us in. Sooner or later this war has to be paid for. Bush is just putting it on credit. Our kids and grand kids are the ones that are going to be paying for it.

Empire building is an expensive undertaking. Just ask the Romans and the British. It will become worse because necessary resources are being lost.

The DOW will go up, since many of the stocks correlated with the DOW will make huge sums of cash off another war. But don't expect things to get better for the poor and middle class, since most manufacturing of things that aren't top secret goes on over seas, so Americans that aren't wealthy elitists will gain very little benefit.

depend who they are fighting against
if a tough enemy like Iran, US would probably spend a high budget on it.
If a very weak enemy, such as the Iceland defense force, US would easily crush them and benefit their country's resources after the victory.
