ammonia (NH4)
sodium carbonate (Na2CO3)
carbon dioxide (CO2)

explain y it is not correct to classify any of these substances as a non-metal.

Elements can be divided into three classes : metals, non-metals and semi-metals.

Ammonia (NH3), sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) and carbon dioxide (CO2) are all compounds, but not elements. Compounds can neither be metals, non-metals nor semi-metals.
