Torjan worm detected, computer cannot detect hard drive, what should I do?

My computer seem to be infected by Trojan worm, I tried to format the computer but it cannot detect my hard drive in the first place so I cannot format or reinstall XP. What should I do to format my computer? I have a Presario V6000 compaq laptop
