on top of就係 xx係xx上面

e.g.
(on)

xx上面

(on top of)

xx在yy上面

即係話on係就咁講"上面"
on top of就係用黎講:
某樣野在某樣野上面

on top of就是在最高的那一點之上，而on只是在某物之上，未必是最高點，如：
They live in that old farmhouse on the hill（他們住在山上那間農舍）
On the top of the mountain there is a memorial stone（一 塊 紀 念 碑 立 在 山
