step:
1.)Do the parenthesis
5x+3(x-2)=100-2(3)
5x+3x-6=100-6
2)put numbers on one side and x's on the other side
5x+3x-6=100-6
5x+3x=100
3)Add x's and numbers
5x+3x=100
8x=100
4)devide both sides by 8 to solve for x
8x/8=100/8
5)answer
x=12.5

*you can check your answer by pluging in 12.5 for every x in the original equation and solving. If its right both sides of the equation should be the same. I already checked it and it is right it turned out to be
94=94.

p.s: hope this helped you out.

5x + 3(x - 2) = 100 - 2(x + 3)

First of all I think you meant x + 3 in the parenthesis at the end, if so...
Use PMDAS (parenthesis, multiply, divide, add, subtract)
3(x - 2)
3x - 6 + 5x = 8x - 6

-2(x + 3)
-2x - 6 + 100 = -2x + 94

then, set them equal to eachother

8x - 6 = -2x + 94
10x = 100
x = 10

then, you can check it by plugging in your answer (10) into the original equation for x.

5(10) + 3(10 - 2) = 100 - 2(10 + 3)
50 + 30 - 6 = 100 - 20 - 6
74 = 74 CHECK!

5x + 3(x - 2) = 100 - 2(? + 3)
5x + 3*x - 3*2 = 100 - 2*? + 2*3
5x + 3x - 6 = 100 - 2? + 6
8x = 100 + 6 + 6 - 2?
8x = 112 - 2?

That works out to X = 12.5 which is a vertical line through the point (12.5, 0). Good luck.

First, you did not ask a question.

Second, that is not a linear equation.

Third, what are maths?

Is this equation complete? The last set of parentheses contain +3?

5x + 3(x – 2) = 100 – 2( + 3)
5x + 3x - 6 = 100 -6
8x = 100
x = 12.5
2008-04-03 5:43 pm
5x + 3(x – 2) = 100 – 2( + 3)

5x+3x-6 = 100 - 6
8x=100 - 6 + 6
8x=100
x=100/8
