1) Let x be the number of members
70%x (larger than) 167
x (smaller than) 238.57 (corr. to 2 d.p.)
Therefore The number of members have to be less then 238.
2) Let x be the length of the side
(85%x)^2
= 72.25% x^2
Therefore the needed percentage is (100%-72.25%) = 27.75%.
3)...???
Marked price: the price the shop sell it to the consumers.
Cost price: the price the shop buy it from the company.
Usually (mostly) the marked price is higher than the cost price...
Sorry can't show the signs of larger than and smaller than...

new area = (0.85a)^2 = 0.7225a^2
percentage decreased = [a^2 - 0.7225a^2] / a^2 x100% = (1 - 0.7225 ) x100% = 27.75%
