美心集團本身是私人有限公司，屬於牛奶公司集團聯營公司。牛奶公司集團是怡和集團下公司，換句話講，美心集團是上市公司的聯營公司，因為怡和系股票在倫敦及新加坡交易。

所謂公眾有限公司，即英文Public Co. Ltd. 指其公司股票可以在交易所交易，如大陸公司在國內掛牌，亦算是公眾有限公司但在香港就不能在香港交易所做其公司股票交易。

There are two types of limited company in Hong Kong. Private and public. If a company has more than 50 shareholders, technically speaking, this is an "ordinary" public limited company.
If a public limited company is listed in Hong Kong Stock Exchange, we then call it a Listed Company with shares trading in Stock Exchange. Apart from the Companies Ordinance, this company has to compile with the Listing Requirements of Secuities Ordinance and Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
