Here is some sentence that I captured on the newspaper

what is the function of " in " in this sentence .

2, what is the meaning for the sentence of " If Ma's US visit is premitted , it will set a precedent that is almost certain to draw opposition form Beijing.

其實swear somebody in是使某人宣誓上任的意思，
He was sworn in as president.（他宣誓就任總統）
而in在這句的作用，只不過是與swear構成phrasal verb（短語動詞）

直譯：若馬英九的探訪被允許的話，這將會成為先例，亦差不多肯定惹起北京的反對。
